Conceit: Diva Soup
At long last, a new podcast! And you thought I had abandoned the idea all together, but I have begun a new experiment which I am calling "Conceit" -- not in the sense of arrogant self-satisfaction, but in the literary sense of an overly elaborate and ridiculously stretched metaphor (like Donne's "The Flea"). I'm hoping that things will improve as I go along and I find my feet. Here's the first offering:Diva Soup

Love this piece!
Thanks, Queen! But is it funny?
It's funny, though kinda cringy (eructation, macrocephaly--yum! And are there folks who can handle dairy but not sour cream? I guess so). I would suggest a little less processing of the vocal in future recordings...it was on the threshold of hard to make out, but clear enough. The playing was very pleasant. A welcome return! (I was somewhat reminded of Ken Nordine...)
Cringey is okay by me. I refer all medical questions to the experts. Blame Garageband for the processing -- it's too easy to do and I didn't like the hissy sound. You're going to make me dig out my real mic and buy an adapter, aren't you...
I will take Ken Nordine, though I was feeling it veered a bit too much into too much Laurie Anderson territory after several takes (clearly she's a model, of course). Unlike the usual one or two takes I give readings, I actually did several of this because it was improvised from a post-it note with a few key words on it.
A work in progress -- I want it to be more Wisty-like.
